Merchandising Admission Requirements:

  • Incoming Freshmen criteria for acceptance
    • High School GPA of 2.75 or higher.
    • minimum ACT 21 and/or SAT 980

  • Transfer Students criteria for acceptance
    • minimum of 24 semester hours at an accredited college or university with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
    • Students transfering with less than 24 semester hours from an accredited college or university will be admitted under the same criteria as new freshmen.

  • Kent State University (KSU) students may change majors to Fashion Merchandising after 12 or more non-remedial hours of course work with a minimum 2.5 GPA.


  • Students who do not meet the above admission criteria may
    • be eligible to enter KSU as a Fine & Professional Arts General major and do a change of major once their GPA has been established
    • or, they may attend another accredited college or university for one year or more and with a 2.5 GPA or higher be eligible for admission to the Kent State University seeking a Fashion Merchandising major.
